Here’s How to Get a Medical Cannabis Card Online
Visit NuggMD.com and you’ll find a simple, clean website tailored to cannabis patients of all ages.
You’ll notice we offer a medical cannabis card for just $49, which is up to 50% cheaper than what you’ll find walking into a traditional cannabis clinic. We’re able to do this by partnering with doctors who are compassionate, well-informed, and excited to move the medical marijuana industry forward.
Plus you’ll notice there’s no wait, and you don’t need an appointment, because we pair you with a doctor in real-time for a truly on-demand experience. You can finally forget the days of walking into the 420 evaluations center down the street, and instead…
Keep in mind that if you already use Nugg, our separate-but-affiliated site that lets you order cannabis delivery online from dispensaries in your area, you can just login with your existing profile.
Rest assured, your information is secure (we store it in a HIPAA compliant database), confidential, and only shared with the doctor with whom you have your cannabis evaluation.
If you’re skeptical about submitting your private health information online, we don’t blame you; it’s a new concept that demands trust from both sides. Unfortunately with cannabis, traditional doctors are neither informed nor equipped to serve patients that may benefit from using it as medication.
In fact, most patients either don’t know how to ask their doctor, feel too uncomfortable, or have been scared off by stories of friends encountering hostile responses from their doctors when inquiring about cannabis.
So by offering an online solution for medical marijuana evaluations and doctor recommendations, we hope to provide the convenience and personalized attention that traditional health care just can’t.
It’s our mission to give you a professional, private, and comfortable experience by connecting you with a knowledgeable doctor who welcomes your questions about cannabis.
Speak with a Doctor Before the Process Begins
And the best part? Your one-on-one consultation with a California, board-certified doctor starts immediately when you visit our website. You’ll find a chat feature on the right-hand side that allows you to live-chat with a doctor before going any further in the process. Feel free to ask him or her about cannabis in general, the medical uses of marijuana, how the online doctor process works, or anything else that’ll make your experience more comfortable!
Even if you don’t choose to conduct your medical marijuana evaluation online, you’re still able to get all your questions answered quickly and in one place from a trusted doctor.
Once you’re ready to get your medical cannabis card online, click the “Get an Evaluation” button which brings you to the sign up process…
The Sign Up Process
On the first screen, you’re asked for basic personal information that we’ll need to confirm you’re legally eligible to use medical marijuana in California.
After providing your basic info, the real fun starts—describing your condition(s) or ailment(s) for which you think cannabis might help.
Our online form asks you to check which conditions apply to you, and lists many of the most common conditions (like cancer, arthritis, seizures and migraines) for which cannabis is an effective treatment.
It then digs a little deeper, asking if there’s any history of disease in your family, if you smoke or drink, and if you’d like to upload any prior medical documents to help the doctor better understand your condition.
These are all highly-typical questions that you’ll encounter regardless if you walk into a cannabis clinic or get your recommendation online.
Once you’ve filled out all necessary information and checked the appropriate boxes, you’re brought to the payment page.
The Payment Process
Here, you’re notified that if your recommendation isn’t approved, you won’t pay anything for the consultation. That’s right. No matter what, you’ll get a free medical marijuana consultation. If approved, you’ll receive an instant digital copy of your medical cannabis recommendation, then a mailed physical copy a few days later for a total of $40.
Our software uses the Stripe API, so you can rest easy knowing we accept all major credit cards.
Enter your credit card information and hit submit to continue.
Your payment information will not be processed until after you’ve seen the doctor. Then just wait a few minutes for a doctor to accept your request and review your information. Stay on the screen, wait and look out for a text and email notification when the doctor’s ready to see you (which shouldn’t be more than five minutes).
When a doctor is ready, you’re able to enter the online chat room. Either click the “Enter Room” button on your screen, or click the button on screen if you’re on mobile.
Please note that you must use either Firefox or Chrome as your internet browser for video-conferencing to work. If you’re on a mobile device, you’ll have to download a third party app to join your secure video-chat.
Consult with the Doctor
Once you’ve joined the chat room, you’ll speak face-to-face with one of our friendly, licensed doctors. He or she will ask you about your condition, previous treatments and experiences with cannabis, then will ultimately make a decision as to whether you should try cannabis to treat your condition.
The video consultation typically lasts 5-10 minutes, but you’re free to take as long as you need with the doctor.
Once approved, you’ll receive an email notification with a PDF version of your medical marijuana recommendation. The paper copy of your cannabis rec will arrive in the mail within 3-5 business days of your online consultation.
Now that you can legally get medical marijuana, the number of dispensaries, strains and other products can be overwhelming, even for the more informed cannabis patient. Don’t worry; we have that covered too.
Here’s How to Buy Medical Cannabis Online
With the digital version of your marijuana rec you’re instantly verified and can order online from over 100 California medical marijuana dispensaries using Nugg.
Not only that, but your account is automatically created and pre-loaded with a $20 credit for your first purchase; just login with the same email and password you used for NuggMD!
So that means you can get your medical cannabis card, recommendation, evaluation, consultation, whatever you want to call it…AND get medical cannabis delivered to your door without ever leaving the couch. If you don’t think that’s the coolest thing ever, I don’t know how you made it to the end of this blog post!
Recap
By introducing a convenient, private, and professional way for patients to find their way into the cannabis industry, and tying it to our existing platform for online orders, Nugg provides the first all-encompassing cannabis experience that focuses solely on the patient.
So what are you waiting for? Complete your medical marijuana evaluation online today! And tell your friends to get their cannabis recommendations too!

CannaCloud: The First Single-Use, Pod-Based Cannabis Vaporizer
1 Comment
A year-old startup called CannaKorp announced last week it’s developing the world’s first single-serve, pod-based marijuana vaporizer system. Dubbed the CannaCloud, it’s essentially the Keurig of cannabis.
The CannaCloud could bring a level of precision and ease to marijuana consumption that could help elevate pot above its crunchy, hippie stigma, if the device finds mainstream success.
Here’s how CannaCloud works: The user inserts a pre-measured cup of marijuana into a travel mug-like cannister. With the press of a button, the cannister heats the marijuana and fills with vapor in less than a minute. A plastic mouthpiece opens a one-way valve that releases the vapor. Voilà.
While the comparable Pax 2, dubbed the “iPhone of vaporizers,” boasts minimalist design and an incredible build quality — users have to pack the devices themselves. The CannaCloud system is possibly the first to offer scale-weighted, pre-packaged dosages of Mary Jane.
If using the CannaCloud sounds as easy as popping a K-Cup into a Keurig machine, that’s because CannaKorp has two former executives from the leading single-serve coffee maker company sitting at the helm.

How Are Cannabis Products For Animals Tested?
1 CommentMany people disagree with testing drugs on animals before giving them to humans, but what about testing drugs on humans before giving them to animals? That’s exactly what is happening with cannabis products for animals.
There are several companies that have developed hemp-based products for animals, mostly intended for dogs. The edible products are suggested for a variety of ailments but the majority seem to focus on joint conditions for older dogs, neurological health and calmness.
Most of the companies cite anecdotal evidence of their supplements’ efficacy or a vet’s endorsement, but there don’t seem to be any studies supporting the use of these products for animals. The studies that most of the products use for validation are studies on humans, not animals. A grand irony for all the years animals have been used as test subjects for human drugs.

Using cannabis on animals isn’t without precedent. When cannabis was a legal medicine at the turn of the century, it was listed for use on animals. In a Parker-David pharmaceutical catalogue from 1912, medical cannabis was extensively used in the veternary field, but it was mostly intended for human use and the difference was only in the dosage. Here’s an excerpt from the catalogue:
FLUID EXTRACT – CANNABIS AMERICANA (No. 596 – per 8th U.S.P.) – pg. 14: – Tested physiologically Dose, 2 to 6 drs., narcotic, analgesic, sedative. May be often used in place of opium with the best results, especially in spasmodic disorders and in genito-urinary irritation: also in persistent cough and in hysteria, as well as in such painful affections as flatulent and spasmodic colic, pruritus and neuralgia, and to relieve spasms of chorea: also to quiet refractory animals for standing operations. This fluid extract, prepared from the home-grown cannabis, is in every respect equal to that produced from the expensive East Indian drug.
The American Veterinary Medical Association hasn’t taken an official stance and for the most part veterinarians aren’t allowed to prescribe cannabis to animals even in states where marijuana is legal. However, Nevada is considering legislation that would allow it. The Association didn’t respond to a request for a comment.
Colleen O’Brien, a senior director at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said, “If the proper administration of marijuana can truly relieve dogs’ pain, then they should be given the same consideration that humans in pain are given, with regular doses to help reduce their misery. But it’s an entirely different matter to amuse oneself by getting the cat drunk or the dog high. In fact, it sounds like something that only a total pothead or moron would do.”

Justin Trudeau Orders Canada’s Justice Minister to Start the Weed Legalization Process
Leave a Comment
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has given his first official order starting the process towards legalizing weed.
In a public mandate letter issued to Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould Friday, Justin Trudeau listed the government’s top priorities, including working with the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Health ministers to “create a federal-provincial-territorial process that will lead to the legalization and regulation of marijuana.”
The letter also calls for a review of sentencing reforms with the goal of reducing incarceration rates amongst Indigenous Canadians. Under Stephen Harper, the Conservatives imposed mandatory minimum sentences for drug crimes, including growing marijuana—a policy that has been widely criticized as “cruel and unusual.”
In the absence of an official cannabis policy change, police forces across the country are using their discretion when deciding whether or not to enforce current drug laws.
Nanaimo, BC RCMP recently ordered several medical marijuana dispensaries in the city to shut down or potentially face criminal prosecution. A compassion club in Saskatoon, where a police officer told VICE he would “charge on a leftover roach” if possible, was also recently raided.
In Vancouver, cops generally don’t lay charges for simple possession, but the city’s 100 or so pot dispensaries, which operate in a grey market, are being cracked down on through new municipal regulations.
The Public Prosecution Service of Canada told VICE that it will continue to prosecute drug offences under the existing laws.

Florida Supreme Court Cancels Medical Marijuana Amendment Hearing
Leave a Comment
The Florida Supreme Court has canceled a Dec. 8 hearing that was scheduled to consider legalizing medical marijuana in the state, according to an Associated Press report.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced last week that she would not launch a challenge to the latest medical marijuana amendment, so the Florida Supreme Court called off the scheduled hearing on the matter. Justices will still need to approve the ballot’s wording before the measure can move forward, however, as reported by North Escambia.
People United for Medical Marijuana sponsored the bill seeking to authorize marijuana use by individuals suffering from any “physician certified debilitating medical condition.”
The “Use of Marijuana for Debilitating Medical Conditions” ballot summary currently reads:
Allows medical use of marijuana for individuals with debilitating medical conditions as determined by a licensed Florida physician. Allows caregivers to assist patients’ medical use of marijuana. The Department of Health shall register and regulate centers that produce and distribute marijuana for medical purposes and shall issue identification cards to patients and caregivers. Applies only to Florida law. Does not immunize violations of federal law or any non-medical use, possession or production of marijuana.
People United for Medical Marijuana says it has collected nearly 350,000 valid signatures for a petition to get medical marijuana on the 2016 Florida ballot. The group must submit more than 680,000 petitions by Feb. 2016 to put the measure before voters.

Poll Shows Americans Favor Drug-Testing Members of Congress
Leave a CommentWASHINGTON — While most Americans like the idea of drug testing for welfare recipients, they LOVE the idea of drug testing members of Congress.
According to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll, 64 percent of Americans favor requiring welfare recipients to submit to random drug testing — a measure pushed by Republican lawmakers in recent years — while 18 percent oppose it. But an even stronger majority said they’re in favor of random drug testing for members of Congress, by a 78 percent to 7 percent margin. Sixty-two percent said they “strongly” favor drug testing for congressional lawmakers, compared to only 51 percent who said the same of welfare recipients.
The House of Representatives passed legislation this year that would allow states to require food stamp recipients to pee in cups to prove they’re not on drugs. In 2012, Republicans pushed for drug testing of people seeking unemployment insurance benefits when they lose their jobs. At the state level, GOP lawmakers across the country have sought drug testing for an array of safety net programs. (Politicians sometimes refer to means-tested government benefits in general as “welfare,” although the term is more commonly a nickname for the relatively small Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.)
Democrats have frequently suggested that if drug tests are good for people getting a hand from the government, then they’re good for people running the government, too. Republicans usually don’t go along with that idea — the Kansas state legislature is one recent exception — but voters heartily approve.
