  1. District Edibles Sour Apple 100mg Hybrid Gummies (2019 Review)

When I’m in a go-go-go place in life, I look to edibles to help me grounded during the evenings. And for me, 10 milligrams can feel like a lot or a little, depending on the potency of the edible itself. Generally, I’d say that is a great baseline and I can always dial it up by eating more. District Edibles is a brand known for its consistency, so I trust them to give me a “true” 10 mg product. I reach for them whenever I needed to chill out but still be functional.

Shaped a bit like stars and surrounded by a charming rocket launch motif, I felt prepared to get spacey with these little green gummies. They look like something you’d find in a Kevin the Minion’s fanny pack on his way to Coachella – but in a good way.

In this District Edibles Sour Apple Hybrid Gummy review, you'll learn about this product's:

    Packaging, Labeling & Product Design

However, I’m not sure Kevin would actually be able to crack into this packaging, as these gummies are some of the most well-protected edibles I’ve seen.

Your 10 pack of gummies comes in a hard plastic container with a clear tamper-proof, child-resistant design. I love that it’s fully recyclable and that doubles as a joint holder with space for joints rolled in classic 1 ¼ sized rolling papers. To me, this tells me District knows I like my weed in multiple formats and helps me live my best life even after I’ve finished their product. It’s slender and pocket-ready, and houses your gummies in a plastic and foil blister pack, kind of like a pack of gum. While the inner graphics are in keeping with a fun and light-hearted space theme, the graphics on the outside are more refined and “adult” looking with a gold, white, and green color scheme on a black background.

While there’s a lot of extra information on their website, the labels on the package itself seem like they’re pretty much the bare necessities for Adult Use compliance. On the front is the brand name, opening instructions, a HYBRID classification, flavor, net weight, amount of pieces in the box, amount of THC (100mg per box) and CBD (0 mg per box) and per gummy. On the back are government warnings, a list of ingredients, usage instructions, batch number, manufactured by, manufactured on date, and best by date. There are also nutrition facts on the bottom of the package as well as web addresses and a graphic that shows you can recycle the package.

I do like that in the ingredients they listed “cannabis oil (purified using CO2 and/or ethanol),” but I’d like to know more about the oil. When they say “purified using…” does that mean the same thing as “extracted using…?” What strains were used? I would have also liked to have seen a QR code or some sort of way to verify lab results. A full profile of all of the cannabinoids detected would also be helpful.

    Quality & Ease of Use

Because these are made in 10 individual 10mg doses, they’ll be easy to dose if you’re comfortable with dosing in those increments. If you’re sensitive to small doses of THC, you might struggle to accurately cut these down further. If you don’t need it to be too precise, the “+” shape of these gummies makes it easy to bite off just a knob and look at it as roughly 2.5mg THC.

Because the package is so small and dark, it’s easy to keep hidden when dosing throughout the day. If you take the blister pack out of the external package, there is nothing cannabis related printed on it, which means you can easily eat these out in the open without any judgmental eyes looking at you.

As soon as I broke the seal and opened the box, I could immediately smell the familiar sour green apple fragrance. I would have assumed these would taste as deliciously sweet and fruity as they smelled, but I know the smell has ultimately set me up for disappointment in taste with the other District gummy flavors I’ve tried in the past.

And honestly, I wrinkled my nose upon laying one of these on my tongue. This Sour Apple variety was probably the worst tasting of all of the District gummies flavors I’ve tried. You get a slight hint of that classic sour apple taste (you might compare to a green apple jolly rancher) which quickly gets sunk by an overpowering, spicy, weedy taste. It wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t continue eating them, but they certainly weren’t great. They did start tasting a little better as I continued to eat through the pack, after my taste buds acclimated. It did, however, leave a bit of a weedy aftertaste in my mouth. On the upside, when I can taste the cannabis like this, I can safely assume they used more of a full spectrum extract, which I know has more of a medicinal benefit for me (as opposed to a distillate). Heck, medicine isn’t necessarily supposed to be tasty!

Though the package was a bit oily, these are a great texture for a gummy. Not chewy, per se, but more like Jell-O with a bit more density. It was wiggly and smooth and broke down easily in my mouth.  I like District’s commitment to the clean and easy chew factor.

    Potency, Effectiveness and Affordability

I started feeling the effects kick in about an hour after consuming them and lasted for about 4½ more hours. It was an enjoyable high that eased my body and uplifted my mind. It wasn’t at all flighty, which is my biggest fear with hybrid edibles (I’m usually an indica guy for that reason). It made me feel good and medicated while still keeping me bright and functional – no couch-lock! District Edibles is always precise in their formulations, making this an edible that will give you a consistent experience every time you buy it.

I spent my time with the medicated focus baking my grandma’s famous Cherry Tart for my cousin’s going away dinner. I must’ve been really in-tune with the flavors, ratios, and baking times, because my cousin and brother both agreed that I must’ve “channeled grandma” because it was the best tart I’d make since grandma passed and I’ve made it many times before this one. Did these hybrid gummies really help me to channel my grandma? I like to think so. I’ll definitely be consuming these gummies the next time I’m baking from grandma’s cookbook!

The gummies are definitely more limited in terms of their versatility. I can’t think of anything to do with these besides eating them right out of the package. Maybe you can garnish a frilly drink with them or suspend them in Jell-O.

For around $18, it’s a decent price for a gummy that provides potent, enjoyable, consistent results and is easy to eat and dose. The taste could be a little better, but I understand that medicine doesn’t always taste great. Overall the potency is worth the price, though it would be a better value of it was a few dollars cheaper. I’ll be buying them again next time I do some baking, for sure.

Nugg Score: How the Nugg Team Rates This Product

    Packaging: 5/5

    • Top-notch reusable packaging is slim and pocket-ready.
    • Eye-grabbing aesthetics don’t sacrifice the product’s security.

    Labeling: 3.5/5

    • Just enough info for Adult-Use compliance, but not much more.
    • Includes brand name, hybrid classification, flavor, milligrams of THC (100), ingredients, batch number, manufacture date, best by date, etc.
    • Would like to have seen a QR Code to verify lab results and a more specific description of their extraction process.

    Easy to Dose? 4.5/5

    • Extremely easy to dose if you’re looking for 5-10 mgs.
    • Trickier if you’re sensitive to THC and want less than 5 mgs (try nibbling off a “knob”).

    Discretion: 5/5

    • Between the clever packaging design and the small size of the gummy itself, these are a breeze to eat on the go.

    Taste: 2.5/5

    • Spicy, weedy taste with hints of sour apple, but not nearly enough.
    • Overpowering cannabis taste as I consume and afterwards as well.
    • On the upside, I know District uses full extract cannabis oil, which increases its overall potency!

    Texture: 4.5/5

    • Package was slightly oily, but edible was an excellent “chewy” texture, with nothing left in your teeth.
    • Jell-O consistency with a bit more density.

    Effectiveness: 5/5

    • Perfect blend of uplifting for my mind and relaxing for my body.
    • Not too racy for those of you worried about trying a hybrid.
    • Gummy would be ideal before a workout or utilized during a day out-and-about on an excursion, like walking around a new city or a museum visit.

    Versatility: 1.5/5

    • Not a whole lot to do with these unless you’re thinking of garnishing a cocktail or making an ice cream sundae.

    Consistency: 5/5

    • Experience was consistent as could be.
    • Each gummy is a true 10 milligrams and that makes it a good buy in my book.

    Price: 4/5

    • A fair price: 10 gummies for $18, not including tax.

    Overall Rating: 4.05

With District gummies, there’s a lot to like here if your top priority is potency but you want an edible that won’t take you under. I only wish they tasted better! I’d recommend buying a sidekick pack of gummies that you can wash the taste of these down with. But other than that, really good texture and thoughtful, consumer-friendly packaging.

  2. Plus Products 100mg Watermelon Sativa Gummies (2019 Review)

Focus. Concentrate. Create. Are these goals for you, too? I find that cannabis, in general, helps me feel my body but the trick is finding the right ally for each of my activities. As an advanced user and an athlete, I find that a stellar cannabis product and proper dosing comes in clutch to help me achieve and have fun while doing it. Whether I’m carving into some fresh powder or looking to get a PR at the gym, a well-formulated sativa-leaning hybrid can give me the just-right combination of confidence and energy to get it done. Even more, I find that I “grind” less and enjoy myself more. Even if I’m sore, I’m happy and I know the cannabis is doing its thing to reduce inflammation so I can get back to it.

I decided to put Plus Edibles Watermelon Sativa Gummies did to the test, as they seem on the surface to be an athlete’s homie. With a low-glycemic, gluten-free recipe (and Kosher to boot!), I felt these were the perfect treat to slip into my backpack as I hit the snowy slopes with my board. Here’s the breakdown of how these Sativa Gummies performed.

In this Plus Uplift Watermelon Gummies review, you'll learn about this product's:

[Click any of the section titles below to jump there]

    Packaging, Labeling & Product Design

When I first received the product, it was in good condition with no harm to the edibles inside. This is in part because the actual gummies are hidden in a metal screw-top container (tin) which is enclosed in a child/almost adult proof plastic bag. The idea of placing the product in a tin is quite cool (to me); I feel like its more sophisticated than simply “bagging” them, but also not the most elegant packaging either. The packaging itself wasn’t “extraordinary” or very eye appealing, but rather simple and effective; there were different colors based on effects and a clear section to actually see the metal tin. It was also recyclable which is a nice touch as not many companies are using recyclable or environmentally friendly packaging due to new compliances and regulations.

When looking at the packaging, there is a good yet modest amount of information; with new regulations and laws, companies are now “over-labeling” things on the packages that can sometimes confuse consumers. Plus does a good job of giving the consumer everything they would want to know minus 1-2 things such as farm (sourcing) information, and strains used for the edibles. They give you lab test results, batch information, company/brand information, and dosage instructions for new users.

These bite-size gummies are perfectly cut up and divided for easy use. Knowing that each square is ~5mg with 20 squares in the package, it is easy for someone new to start with 1-2 pieces and wait for the effects while an advanced user might need to consume ¼ to ½ of the container to get any effects.

    Quality & Ease of Use

Plus gummies are portable, small and convenient for almost any situation. The discreet packaging allows for resealing to ensure freshness and portability.

These little squares are perfect for any occasion due to how much they look like normal candy/gummies. Rather than having your usual brownie or cookie, these small artisanal candies could be consumed anywhere: the beach, the movies, at work, at home, kids’ soccer games… virtually anywhere.

When you first open the container and smell the gummies, it reminded me of those watermelon belts that I would eat as a kid: sweet and pungent and yummy! Upon actually trying them, I was delightfully surprised to taste a briefly sour then deliciously sweet watermelon taste, similar to biting into a nice rind on a summer day. Unlike your firecrackers and brownies of days past, the cannabis taste is completely hidden and masked by the taste of other great ingredients. Even without being infused with cannabis, I would honestly buy them as they are an exemplary gummy on their own.

When you first pick up and touch the gummies, you feel a grainy/coated candy that is soft and chewy. Depending on which Plus flavor you try, the coating is either more sugary or sour and more coarse – nothing that is gross or undesirable, just the nature of the candy. Some of the Uplift Watermelon gummies did have more chewiness to them which was weird at first, but after trying the rest I was reassured that it was just 2-3 in the container. Overall, they were easy to eat and what I look for in a gummy edible.

    Potency, Effectiveness and Affordability

When trying cannabis edibles or any products, the results are going to very for everyone; while one may try an uplifting gummy and feel more calm/sedated, someone else might feel energetic and creative. I decided to give these Uplift gummies a try before a rigorous day of snowboarding – boy did they come through. Rather than giving my body a numbing feeling and making the day a struggle, I was able to charge down the mountain and ride all day with energy flowing through my body. Being a more advanced cannabis user, I decided to try 5 of these gummies for a total of ~25mg. This was a good testing dose as I felt the energy and “trick creativity” I needed while snowboarding without the anxiety that could have crippled my riding.

When consuming edibles, the biggest factor for me is consistency in the dosages. Everyone has that horror story of the time their friend gave them a brownie with and said its 50mg and it turned out to be 1000mg…it wasnt pleasant. Now with the requirement of lab testing, the error of inconsistency has been reduced but can still be an issue. When trying these Plus watermelon edibles, I was happily surprised that the effects were as listed and the dosages felt right: 25mg felt about right and when I tried 50-70mg later on, there was definitely different effects. There was maybe one or two gummies that I ate for fun that felt underdosed or my tolerance was too high, but in general, Plus shows consistency in bringing you the same quality dosage every time.

Nugg Score: How the Nugg Team Rates This Product

    Packaging: 3/5

    • Two-fold packaging: a stylish bag which contains a tin that houses 20 gummies.
    • We recommend being sober(ish) when you attempt to open these, as they are definitely tamperproof and child-resistant (nearly adult resistant, too).

    Labeling: 4/5

    • Plus includes all the important stuff without overloading you with info. A confident display.

    Easy to Dose: 5/5

    • Each gummy has ~5 milligrams of THC
    • Edibles are easy to scale up or down, depending on your experience.
    • New to cannabis? Start with one and see how you feel.
    • Seasoned user? Start with four or even five, and go from there.

    Discretion: 5/5

    • Tin slips readily into your pocket for whatever adventure you’re cooking up.
    • Gummies resemble other gummies out there and don’t reek of reefer, so they’re friendly for consumption in any environment.

    Taste: 5/5

    • Anyone who loved Fruit by the Foot as a kid or sour watermelon belts is going to flip for this flavor of gummies.
    • Delicious watermelon flavor with no trace of cannabis.

    Texture: 4/5

    • Coated with sugar and not overly chewy.
    • Might be a few pieces that you have to chomp down, but overall a mouthwatering sweet and sour candy.

    Effectiveness: 4/5

    • With edibles, there’s always some variability depending on mood and body chemistry that day.
    • These gave me the creative, energetic boost I was after.

    Versatility: 3/5

    • Other than incorporating into another dessert concoction or possibly a beverage, you’ve pretty much just got a classic gummy here.

    Consistency: 4/5

    • Aside from one or two “underwhelmers,” Plus’ Uplift gummies delivered their intended effect when I consumed in consistent doses.

    Price: 5/5

    • At around $17 for 20 gummies, you’re getting a really good deal.

    Overall Rating: 4.2

Having tried numerous edibles and gummies over my years as a medical marijuana patient, I must say that Plus has a great thing going here. With different flavors and effects for different situations, it would be hard not to find one you like. Uplift is true to its name and definitely got me feeling good and ready to tackle the technical aspects of the mountain. With amazing pleasure, taste and potency, Plus Edibles Uplift Watermelon Sativa Gummies is a fine bargain.

  3. District Edibles 1:1 CBD:THC Tropical Punch Gummies (2019 Review)

Can you imagine if astronauts were also sent to space with edibles? I’m picturing floating in a zero-gravity environment, happily stoned, and exclaiming in wonder as I took in the sweeping expanse of the Milky Way. District Edibles wants to help you set sail and touch the stars of your consciousness with its space trippy gummies. They promise “fully activated” premium cannabis oil and each gummy allegedly is low sugar – less than 3 grams of sugar per serving and under 10 calories. After feeling pretty low on a higher pain day, I was ready to go somewhere, anywhere. I sampled these gummies before a meal with friends and below is the full scoop on my experience.

In this District Edibles 1:1 CBD:THC Tropical Punch Gummies review, you'll learn about this product's:

[Click any of the section titles below to jump there]

    Packaging, Labeling & Product Design

Sturdy. Attractive. Multi-purpose. What more could you want in packaging? Often, edibles’ packaging seems like an afterthought and is too flimsy for my taste. I love that District invests in its presentation, because as a consumer, that shows me that they stand behind their product. For instance, I love the effects of Sensi Chews formulation for insomnia but their medicine comes in a small plastic “tub” that resembles extra condiments. It honestly turns me off because once opened, it’s impossible to secure the remaining chewable tabs.

I’m happy to report this is so not the case with District’s edible gummies. They are extremely secure in a hard-plastic casing that’s both tamperproof and child-resistant. And, drumroll please, they’re both recyclable and reusable as a joint holder! When I tried slipping a spliff rolled with classic 1 ¼ sized paper, it fit like a glove. I love that. It makes me feel “seen” as someone who does consume cannabis in multiple ways.

While the graphics on the outside are fairly refined with gold and white lettering, the inside of the packaging holds a surprise, which again, makes me like this product. The gummies themselves are contained in a foil blister pack which are covered in rocket ships and phrases like “Booster,” “Gravity Check,” and “Accelerator.” It creates a mood of exploration and adventure, and with gummies in particular, I feel like this added layer of personality enhances the overall experience. Unlike the indica, sativa, and hybrid options, this CBD:THC package uses a label at the bottom that outlines dosage info, but it looks like it was printed on a home computer. I would have liked to have seen a nicer label on here as the other District gummies have, so I knocked 0.5 off the rating.

While on the topic of labeling, the information covers the basic requirements but doesn’t go into much detail. It’s great that they have the ratio of CBD to THC per gummy and per box, opening instructions, government warnings, ingredients, best by date and batch number. After scanning the ingredients, I noticed these are full of artificial ingredients and also have corn syrup, so they’re definitely not what you would call “healthy” edibles.

“Cannabis oil (purified using CO2 and/or ethanol)” is also mentioned in the ingredients list, but by including that, District actually raised more questions for me. When they say “purified using CO2 and/or ethanol,” what exactly do they mean? I wonder which strains were used? It would also have been beneficial to see a QR code or another way to double check testing results. A full profile of all of the cannabinoids would also be nice to see.

    Quality & Ease of Use

If you’re comfortable with 5.45 mg THC and 4.54 mg CBD per dose, it’s relatively simple to dose in these increments. If you know you need 10 mg of THC, eat two to start. However, if you’re looking for a smaller dose, you can try cutting the gummy in half or biting off a “knob.” However, given this product is a gummy, it’s going to be difficult to cut these down further for precise dosing.

Given the packaging’s slip-into-your-pocket-and-go nature, it’s easy to keep hidden when dosing throughout the day. If you take the blister pack out of the external package, there is nothing cannabis related printed on it, making it easy to use. Just pop out of the foil and into your mouth! Chewing is all that’s required. And speaking of chewability, District has got its formula down. It’s a clean experience as the gummy bits don’t get stuck in your teeth like Swedish fish. It feels like Jell-O with a bit more density, which I found very pleasurable and broke down easily in my mouth.

That said, flavor is one of the most important aspects of gummies to me. Billed as tropical punch, I expect fruitiness, with notes of mango, pineapple, etc. As soon as I broke the seal on my first gummy, I could immediately smell the classic fruit punch fragrance waft toward my nose. I assumed these would taste as deliciously sweet and fruity as they smelled, but ultimately, the initial waft set me up for disappointment. The gummies tasted like heavily watered down Hawaiian Punch with a spicy and herbaceous cannabis flavor mixed in. It was almost medicinal tasting with a weedy aftertaste. This aspect makes District Edible’s gummies not beginner-friendly. I’m quite accustomed to the taste of rich, skunky cannabis but even for me, these were formidable. It was also overwhelmingly sugary tasting which had me questioning that 3 grams of sugar gummy marketing.

The upshot is, when I taste strong cannabis flavors like this, I can safely assume District used more of a full spectrum extract as opposed to a distillate, which I know has more of a medicinal benefit for me.

    Potency, Effectiveness and Affordability

Medicinal, indeed! District Edibles is always precise in their formulations, making this an edible that will give you a consistent experience every time you buy it. Sure enough, I can testify that each gummy I tried had the same potency. Despite the fact that it’s essentially a 1:1 ratio of CBD:THC, I still found these fairly psychoactive. So for the canna-curious reading this review, don’t be fooled! This maker makes sure to create edibles which are heavy hitters.

About 50 minutes from the time I ate the first gummy in the pack, I felt it kicking in. Ten minutes later, my hunger started to kick in. This is extremely helpful for me, as due to some health issues caused by Crohn’s disease, I often don’t have an appetite all day and by evening, still haven’t eaten a thing. Now I can happily nourish myself!

As my experience continued, after grabbing a bite to eat with friends, I found myself getting a bit anxious. While CBD generally tends to ease my anxieties, this combination of cannabinoids didn’t seem to help in that regard. The anxiety I was experiencing may have had little to do with the edible and more to do with my state of mind and body chemistry at the time, but it also might have been the edible. If you have regular issues with anxiety, like I do, you may want to take caution. Three hours after I had my first gummy, the high started dying down and at about the 5-hour mark I felt like I had sobered up. Aside from the minor bout of anxiety, I felt like this edible allowed me to be pretty energetic and productive. If I hadn’t been socializing with friends and playing strategic board games (which is exactly what I did), I could see myself happily cleaning my apartment or scouring thrift store shelves for deals.

For around $15-$18, this is a good price for a gummy that provides potent, consistent results, and is easy to eat and easy to dose.

Nugg Score: How the Nugg Team Rates This Product

    Packaging: 5/5

    • Well-protected in a hard-plastic, child-resistant container.
    • Reusable, recyclable, and doubles as a joint holder? Sold.
    • Fun rocket ship theme; classy graphics with gold, white and bluish purple.

    Labeling: 3.5/5

    • Bare minimum for adult-use compliance.
    • Leaves many questions: does “purified” mean the same as “extracted using?” What strains were used, how can we verify lab results?

    Easy to Dose?: 4.5/5

    • Simple to dose if you’re comfortable with the amount of THC and CBD in a single gummy.
    • Harder to cut and achieve a precise micro-dose.

    Discretion: 5/5

    • Packaging travels well in jackets or pockets and the foil itself has no reference to cannabis.
    • While someone might see the spaceship spangled pack and be curious what’s inside, they won’t know off the bat these are medicated gummies.

    Taste: 2.5/5

    • Cannabis-forward is an understatement.
    • These have the “weedy” taste that turn many people off edibles. But if your top priority is effectiveness, then flavor is secondary.

    Texture: 4.5/5

    • Great texture for a gummy: not chewy, but more wiggly, like Jell-O with density.
    • Didn’t get stuck in my teeth, left with a slight oily residue on my hands.

    Effectiveness: 5/5

    • Strong stuff, definitely helped me feel elevated, helped me manage pain, and sparked my appetite right up.
    • May have caused a bit more anxiety than I typically enjoy.

    Versatility: 1.5/5

    • Other than eating it as a gummy, there’s not a whole lot else you can do with these.
    • Potential to be used as a garnish for a cocktail or suspended in squares of Jell-O, but given the flavor issue, I’d recommend eating them as is.

    Consistency: 5/5

    • Overall experience was consistent as it could be.
    • Each gummy is a true 10 milligrams and that makes it a good buy in my book.

    Price: 4/5

    • At $15-18 per 10-pack of gummies, this is a fair price for consistently strong medicine… which definitely tastes like medicine.

    Overall Rating: 3.9

District gummies’ taste could be a little better, but I also get that serious medicine doesn’t always taste great. The other thing I didn’t love was the spike in anxiety I felt, which might be explained by which strain was used (information which was not provided by the labeling). For many, I think the “hit every time” potency is worth the price, but if I buy it again, I would be cautious about it affecting my anxiety.

  4. Cheeba Chews 1:1 CBD:THC Chocolate Taffy (2019 Review)

When I have an unbearably jam-packed day, I look for an edible I can trust to deliver a focused, long-lasting high that provides relaxation without the drowsiness. Time and time again I turn to a trusted brand like Cheeba Chews and their 100mg 1:1 THC:CBD Chocolate Taffy (around $20) to get me through a long day.

How to describe Cheeba Chews? Classic. Iconic even. For nearly 10 years, the brand has worked to cement its status as a familiar and trusted favorite. Their time-tested experience produces consistently tasty and beneficial products you can trust to deliver a familiar high every time. Find their products in most legal cannabis dispensaries in California, Colorado and Nevada.

Cheeba Chews Chocolate Taffy comes in a rectangular, baby blue package. Inside are 10 individual blister-packed 10mg square pieces, each dosed with 5mg of THC and 5mg of CBD. This even ratio provides a perfectly balanced high, relaxing the mind and spirit while providing enough energy and focus to face a busy day head-on.

This cannabis-infused taffy isn’t the most unique edible available, but what it lacks in creativity it makes up for in nostalgia and consistency. Each chewy, sticky bite reminds me of the saltwater chocolate taffy I bought as a kid on family vacations by the beach, enjoying them on the sand as the waves glided in and out – only with a slight cannabis flavor. These days I’m typically not relaxing by the Pacific when I eat Cheeba Chews (I’m sorry to say), but their texture, chocolatey flavor and consistent high leave me similarly relaxed for 2-6 hours.

In this Cheeba Chews Chocolate Taffy review, you'll learn about this product's:

    Packaging, Labeling & Product Design

The new compliant packaging is a bit bulkier and tougher than the old medical chews. I had some trouble getting the taffies out of their plastic pouches so they’re truly child-proof. If you suffer from arthritis or other hand pain, you’ll need someone to open them.

While Cheeba Chews enjoys the trust of the cannabis community, they tend to lack transparency when it comes to lab testing. Their website says their products are lab tested, yet the lab results, strain breakdown and cannabis source isn’t readily available on the packaging. The brand would benefit from offering more transparency on their lab test results, sourcing of plant material, and manufacturing technique. Until then, I’ll rely on the consistent results I get from this balanced 100mg taffy to form an opinion.

    Quality, Ease of Use

The classic logo ensures an effective cannabis candy experience. One bite into the sticky, slightly chewy 1:1 square and you know what to expect: Tootsie Roll taste and a relaxed-but-functional experience.

The new packaging required excessive effort to unwrap each individual child-proof packet, making it a hassle to dose in larger amounts. But if you’re into microdosing, this isn’t an issue.

    Potency, Effectiveness & Affordability

At 10 milligrams of balanced THC and CBD per piece, I ate the whole pack as a post-dinner treat, which was tough. It was a nice cap-off to my chicken stir-fry and helped digest that broccoli and bok choy without bloating.

The taffy’s potency and effectiveness were exactly as I expected from Cheeba Chews – enjoyably chill-but-focused for body and mind. I felt comfortable and content getting work done without feeling lethargic; I didn’t fidget and wasn’t distracted by the noise outside my window on this surprisingly cool summer evening.

With a $22 price tag, this is more than I’d like to spend on an edible – especially since Korova cookies are almost double the CBD and THC, only two dollars more and just as effective. Still, I know Cheeba Chews is a trustworthy brand backed by consistency and effectiveness, so I’ll continue to fork over 22 bones for more chews. You win, Cheeba Chews. Touché.

Nugg Score: How the Nugg Team Rates This Product

    Packaging: 2.5/5

    • While the box protects your chews well and has pleasing graphics, it’s far too big and bulky for the product inside.
    • New compliant packaging is about six inches long and an inch deep, too bulky to stuff in your pocket.
    • Child-resistant cardboard that covers the blister pack allows you to break down into longer segments, but it’s still awkward.

    Labeling: 3.5/5

    • Iconic logo and polka dot background make me know it’s a brand I can trust.
    • Label includes net weight, amount of servings, THC: CBD content and cannabinoid content.
    • List of ingredients along with nutrition information, yet no lab results.
    • Includes a tip: pop these in the freezer for 2 minutes if the taffy is too soft to help get them out of the package.
    • If the packaging included where this product was sourced, how it was sourced and the strains it came from, I’d give this a 5.

    Easy to dose: 4/5

    • Easier than it used to be to dose (for someone who doses in 5 mg increments).
    • Childproofing makes it tough to open and requires more energy and finger strength.
    • Consuming the entire Cheeba Chew out of the package at once is tricky and frustrating.

    Discretion: 3/5

    • Inner packaging is nondescript.
    • Draws unwanted attention when you’re struggling to open the package.

    Taste: 3/5

    • “Chocolate Taffy” chews taste like tootsie rolls.
    • Has hints of cannabis flavor.
    • Ideal if you’re a Tootsie Roll fan (I am not).

    Texture: 4.5/5

    • Soft, chewy consistency.
      Eventually melts in your mouth.
It might get stuck in your teeth, but not irritating.
      Stays true to taffy texture.

    Effectiveness: 5/5

    • Makes me relaxed yet functional with equal parts CBD to THC.
    • I ate the whole package (50mg THC and 50mg CBD), which was the perfect post-dinner treat.
    • Chill but focused, I got stuff done without feeling restless or uneasy.

    Versatility: 1.5

    • Mimicking a tootsie roll, there aren’t many ways you can incorporate these into a meal.
    • Try serving them on a toothpick as a post-dinner treat.

    Consistency: 5/5

    • Over the years, Cheeba Chews have been consistent in their flavor, consistency and effectiveness.

    Price: 3/5

    • Higher-than-average price at $22.
    • Other brands like Korova have more cannabis content for almost the same price.
    • Can charge more due to their trusted name backed by quality.

    Overall: 3.5

If you need a reliable, balanced edible from a reputable brand to stay focused and active, this 1:1 THC:CBD taffy does it. You might find the childproof blister packaging a pain to open, especially if you have a higher tolerance and need the full 50mg THC and 50mg CBD for relief. While you can’t go wrong with its mix of Tootsie Roll flavor and slight cannabis taste, other brands provide more complex flavor and a bit more THC and CBD content for almost the identical cost.

  5. Plus Products 90mg Blackberry & Lemon Gummies (2019 Review)

Cannabis gummies are one of my ultimate favorite ways to consume the plant. Compared to infused chocolate bars, I find the slight cannabis flavor in gummies works better with fruit flavors. But as the cannabis market explodes, there are more and more options on the market. Sometimes when I walk into the dispensary, I feel completely overwhelmed by the choices and all-too-often revert back to products I know I like rather than branching out to try something new. When I get this analysis paralysis, I feel like Phil in Groundhog Day, reliving the same experience over and over again.

How do I  choose when there are literally hundreds of options? We’ve been told not to judge a book by its cover, but when it comes to cannabis edibles, I judge hard! Packaging is the number one thing that draws me in.

When I walk into the dispensary this time, I resolve to try something new. I won’t be caught in another Groundhog Day time loop! Scanning my options, the peach and cotton-candy-colored tin catches my eye: Plus cannabis-infused gummies. Beyond the vivid packaging, the flavor combination of blackberry and lemon is something I don’t think I’ve seen before. That flavor combo sparks an unexpected nostalgia for summer days spent picking wild blackberries at my grandma’s Oregon home – my interest is piqued. And a quick Google search of Plus tells me this brand was birthed in Colorado and its reputation allowed the company to expand to the largest cannabis market in the world, California.

Their blackberry and lemon gummies are coming home with me! And I’m hoping they’ll bring me as much happiness as my grandma’s homemade blackberry cobbler.

In this Plus Products blackberry & lemon gummy review, you'll learn about this product's:

[Click any of the section titles below to jump there]

    Packaging, Labeling & Product Design

The packaging is what draws me to this product. I don’t see much pastel pink on the shelves of cannabis dispensaries, so the unique color and child-proof plastic bag with a pink and yellow metal tin inside immediately caught my eye. On the front top half of the recyclable plastic bag, the packaging tells me these are cannabis-infused gummies, with the tantalizing flavor combination of blackberry and lemon. Right below that, there’s a small sticker with THC (95.8 mg THC) and CBD (8.4 mg) content, a manufacturing date stamp, and the CA cannabis warning symbol. The back of the bag has all the additional information I look for, including storage advice, all compliance-required information, and the brand’s social media handles.

The circular metal tin housed inside the package looks like a lip balm container and I love this sturdy level of protection for the gummies inside. I can easily toss this container into my bag without worrying it’ll pop open or get smashed. Plus, the packaging is very discreet. If I pulled this out while walking down the street, no one would ever think there are cannabis gummies inside. I love that they repeat important information here for when I inevitably lose the plastic bag it came in. The label on the tin informs me this is an indica-based product (which tells me I should be expecting more sedative effects), with 20 servings of 4.5 mg THC and 0.5 mg of CBD each. It also lets me know these Plus gummies are gluten free, with no artificial sweeteners, kosher, and made in California.

As much as I love the look of this packaging, there’s one thing that really bothers me. There’s a discrepancy with the stated dosage on the labels and the lab testing information. The label says there are 90 mg of THC and 10 mg of CBD total, breaking down to 4.5 mg THC and 0.5mg CBD per serving. But in reality, there’s 4.79 mg THC and .42 mg CBD per serving. This may seem like a small, nitpicky detail, but it does highlight a lack of consistency.

    Quality and Ease of Use

It’s time to break into these! The labeling tells me to take two to three pieces and wait for at least two hours. And since I’m a small lady with a low-normal tolerance for cannabis edibles, I take their advice. I don’t want to end up like Veruca Salt, eating her way through the Chocolate Factory with reckless abandon.

I start with three in the evening as a non-alcoholic happy hour of sorts. Each square gummy, some a dark purple color and others a deep yellow, is coated in a sugary powder. And, since each one is a separate serving, this product is incredibly easy to dose.

I love that these have some blackberry and some lemon flavored gummies, not combining the flavors artificially in one. Each piece bursts with flavor and only the slightest hint of cannabis can be detected. Sometimes gummies taste artificial, but not these guys! I can tell the Plus team works hard to make these artisanal edibles and can taste the effort they place into each piece.

The texture is familiar to other gummies, but the sugary coating on the outside gets a little monotonous after the third piece. I could have definitely done without that, especially since these micro-doses require more servings than many edibles.

    Potency, Effectiveness & Affordability

As I munch through three of these gummies, the flavors meld together, and I wait for the effects to kick in. The label indicates these are indica-based gummies (although there’s no additional strain information) so I am expecting a nice, sedative body high that is recognizable but not overwhelming. We’ve already discussed the potency discrepancy, but even if each serving was the advertised potency level, these seem to be a bit weak.

After waiting for a while, the three gummies still hadn’t set in. So I went back to the proverbial well and ate two more, bringing my total to five servings. I kept waiting and waiting to be taken by the effectiveness of these gummies, but the desired sedative and relaxing effects never really came. I could certainly feel a bit of a buzz, but with five servings and a low to moderate tolerance, it seems like they should have hit me harder. And the overly-sweet, sugary coating on these edibles keeps me from wanting more.

If I were to eat these again, I’d save them for a time when I want an extremely mild high. These would be better suited for a work day when I want a minimal high, rather than an evening treat when I want to fully feel the effects.

The underwhelming potency makes me question the $25 price point. There are stronger gummy options for the same price that I would opt for instead. That being said, I don’t want to discount the artistry, flavor, and beautiful packaging. If I was looking for a microdose option, I would purchase these again.

Nugg Score: How the Nugg Team Rates This Product

    Packaging: 4/5

    • Packaging is well-designed, pleasing to the sight and touch.
    • Metal tin comes in a child-resistant, recyclable bag that is quite difficult to open.
    • You can tell the producer put the time and effort into the quality of this packaging for sure.

    Labeling: 4/5

    • Enough info for the consumer without being completely plastered in labels.
    • Includes most everything you need to know: cannabis-infused (big font on the front), refrigerate for quality, compliance needed labels, consumption and storage advice, ingredients, and social media handles.

    Easy to dose?: 5/5

    • The way these gummies are cut up and easily divided, it would be hard to not understand what 1 serving is.
    • Package says to start with 2-3 and wait two hours to consume – an easy regimen to follow.

    Discretion: 5/5

    • Any sort of gummy candy, treat or anything sour will always be easy to hide as they do not look like cannabis products.
    • Could eat these edibles anywhere without worry or suspicion.

    Taste: 4/5

    • Being a HUGE gummy fan, it was easy for me to enjoy these.
    • Artisanally crafted with plenty of love and effort; taste sat well in my mouth.
    • On the sweeter side without an overwhelming cannabis taste.

    Texture: 3/5

    • Standard gummy texture, then covered in a sugar/sour powder.
    • Pleasant mouthfeel (not scratchy), but the coating could be a little lighter. It was hard to consume more than a few in one sitting.

    Effectiveness: 3/5

    • Having a minimal tolerance for edibles, I started low on the dosage scale to gauge effects and see if I would need more and the answer was YEAH.
    • These are advertised as 100mg (90mg THC/10mg CBD), the package says that there is actually only around 90mg so they are about 4mg per piece.

    Versatility: 4/5

    • Less versatile than the traditional brownie, but still delicious and have a variety of uses on their own.
    • Could be added to frosting on a cake, topped on thumbprint cookies or added to a refreshing drink or smoothie.

    Consistency: 3/5

    • Of the three packs purchased, all were somewhat similar in size and taste, though potency varied.
    • Disappointed that the bag was only 95mg when advertised as 100mg; consistency is always appreciated.

    Price: 3/5

    • A great product and somewhat of a niche market, though the price of around $25 for a pack of these seems a little steep.
    • For the moderate to minimal effects, the taste, and inconsistency, there are plenty of other products that you might find more suited for you.

    Overall Rating:  3.8

I thoroughly enjoyed the packaging and flavor of these Plus Cannabis Gummies. The delectable and unique blackberry and lemon flavor created a nice respite from the more generic flavors I find on the dispensary shelf. The sugary coating on the outside of these artisanal gummies did get a bit overwhelming for me after five pieces, enough so to make me not want more. I wish the effects were stronger but could see these as a good option for microdosing.

  6. Korova Edibles Review: Flavors, Dose, Ingredients, Where to Buy Them

Founded by Joe Gerlach in 2011, Korova Edibles touts its “unrivaled potency” on every item, just above an ingredient list that reads like something your grandmother would have crafted with loving hands. Flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips, eggs, chocolate pudding…and of course cannabutter. You’ll find no unpronounceable items or questionable ingredients here. It looks and smells just like grandma used to make, well almost.

Gerlach, who grew up in a family that loved to bake, created the company when he realized how many cancer patients, and others living with similarly severe conditions, didn’t have access to products with a strong enough potency to accommodate their needs. For many, the strongest dose available was an ineffective 10mg, the current edible content limit in places like Colorado, aimed at reducing accidental pediatric ingestion.

Gerlach joined forces with Ashley Goldsberry to create Korova, a company that built upon the core philosophy of helping people. In conversation with Debby Goldsberry for Dope Magazine, Ashley said that every single employee at Korova focuses on the person “who the product is helping.”

What you'll learn in this post:

[Click any of the section titles below to jump there]

    The Korova Dose Amount

Korova edibles are some of the strongest on the market, ranging in THC count from 150mg to a whopping 1,000mg of THC, and that can mean the difference between getting the medication a patient needs, or not at all. Rachel M. said her mother, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy sometimes can’t stomach the large amount she’d have to eat of other products, but can “peck” at one of Korova’s Black Bars, consuming “just little bits, every now and then, and she gets enough. Otherwise, she wouldn’t get enough to help her.”

All items are created around a standardized 50mg “dose” of THC to make it easier for the consumer to calculate their desired amount correctly. For example, Korova’s chocolate chip cookie contains 150mg of THC, or 3 doses.

Marta M. of Oxnard thinks that’s their “greatest” benefit. “I get 20 doses from the Black Bar. At $40, that’s two bucks a dose. I’m on benefits. I can’t afford some of the higher priced stuff. And the bar lasts me two months.” For patients struggling to make ends meet, the cost per gram ratio of Korova’s Black Bar is the “best bang for your buck.” She added, “I get money left over for food, and because of the bar I can actually eat it.”

    Korova Edibles Chocolate Chip Dip

    Korova Edibles Flavors & Ingredients

Not sure which Korova product to start with? Check out these options.

    1. Products in the 150mg range include the Chocolate Chip Cookie that earned SF High Times’ 2nd place for ‘Best Edible’ in 2013, and a ‘decadent’ Triple Chocolate Brownie.

    2. Dipped cookies – hand crafted and half-dipped – come in flavors such as the Chocolate Chip Dip, Peanut Butter Dip, and Mint Dip and deliver 250mg of THC.

    3. Vegan? Gluten Intolerant? Korova has you covered with their 6-dose Organic Peanut Butter Bar (300mg THC) made from organic peanut butter, gluten-free oats, vegan chocolate coating, cannabis infused coconut oil and agave syrup.

If you’re a vegan cannabis consumer, you must read: Six Vegan Marijuana Edibles You Should Try

    4. The Fifty One Fifty Bar, which is really one of their award-winning chocolate chip cookies that has been baked directly on top of one of their triple chocolate brownies, comes with a hefty 500mg dose.

    5. And their (in)famous Black Bar, the most potent edible on the market – ideal for those with extreme pain and/ or high THC tolerance – tops the chart at a powerful 1,000 mg.

    6. Not into baked goods? Don’t despair; you can get nearly 300mg THC from their White Cheddar Popcorn.

While all of the Korova edibles carry an identifiable cannabis flavor, it doesn’t overpower the home-made taste and texture of the baked goods. And their moist, triple chocolate brownie pairs exceptionally well with a big glass of ice-cold milk!

For optimal freshness refrigeration is recommended as it can increase the shelf-life for up to three months. And as always, it is recommended that you start with a small amount until you are familiar with the effects, particularly when dealing with higher dose edibles. (10mg is a typically recommended ‘starter’ dose for those who have not tried edibles previously).

    The Korova Edibles Difference

In a one-on-one interview with a sales manager from the company, we were lucky enough to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at Korova. Most notably, they take lab-testing their products very seriously. So seriously that they’ve been recognized by CW Analytical’s “quality-tested program.”

But what exactly does that mean?

We were surprised to find out that by being part of CW’s program, Korova actually undergoes kitchen walk-throughs and random batch testing for microbiological contaminants, performed by professional laboratory teams. Quite impressive if you ask us.

Also, the company takes pride in supplying cannabis consumers with specific nutritional information for each item they ingest, which can be found cleanly-labeled on every package.

Finally, the company knew it couldn’t just be recognized for having high-potency products, since “unrivaled potency” is usually associated with unrivaled cannabis taste (and not in the good way). That’s why their certified kitchen is managed by a professional pastry chef!

    Korova Testimonials

“I didn’t get very foggy. I didn’t lose much of my attention span or get any other side effects. I just had pain relief, relaxation, and no anxiety for a very long time. I think it lasted around 8 hours before I felt sober again.” –Corry

“The high was a good mix of physical relaxation and a comfortable pain free feeling for hours.” –Josh

“KOROVA Edibles Peanut butter dipped, Peanut butter cookie is the best edible that I have ever eaten, to date.” –Randall

  7. Edible Review: Stokes Micros Low-Dose 5mg THC (Watermelon Flavor)

I’m pleased as punch to see companies in the cannabis industry begin to embrace the low-dose patient, and Stokes Confections is doing just that, with their “Stokes Micros” line of low-dose cannabis edibles.

    What you'll learn in about:

[Click any of the section titles below to jump there]

What’s the Dose Amount for a Stokes Micro?

Each container contains 20 mint-sized pieces with 5mg of THC in each, for a total of 100mg per bottle and a very manageable, pleasant high.

Plus, they take effect almost instantly, thanks to sublingual uptake, and at just 3 calories per sugar-free Micro, they won’t make you feeling sluggish like most of the other sugar-infused edibles on the market.

Instead, Stokes Micros provide just the slightest bit of body buzz, which is perfect for patients who use cannabis to un-wind, de-stress, or perhaps treat a condition like anxiety or ADHD.

    Packaging & Flavors

Stokes Micros Low-Dose 5mg THC (Watermelon Flavor)Micros come in an array of delicious, all-natural and sugar-free flavors — Mint, Watermelon, Tangerine Creme, and Honey Lemon Ginger — offered in Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid strains which are available in 20 and 50 count tamper resistant, child-proof containers.

The 20 count container features 100mg of THC, while the 50 count features 250mg of THC.

We tried the Stokes Watermelon Micros, which are a bit sour (especially if chewed up) but do a decent job masking the taste of cannabis considering how small each piece is.

The company also features a line of “Truffles,” artisan, ganache-filled, gluten-free and available in decadent dark and milk chocolate.

    The Stokes Confections Brand

    stokes micros

Despite ever-increasing headlines in the media about how pot is stronger today than its ever been, the legal marijuana landscape is actually shifting towards more mellow, moderate consumption, thanks to the influence of “new-age” cannabis users and adult-use cannabis laws in many states.

Not everyone is looking to get stoned, yet for the longest time that’s all medical marijuana dispensaries had to offer.

The founders of stokes realized what a void existed in the market for low-dose THC products, and set out to create a product that provides cannabinoids in precise, functional formats that enable patients and consumers to medicate confidently without fear of adverse reaction (we all have those edibles-induced horror stories).

The Stokes line of products is ideal for first-time edibles consumers, as well as experienced consumers looking for a more calculated approach to cannabis dosing.

To top it off, Stokes products are made with a solventless extraction method for organic cannabis, so you can be confident that what you’re consuming is safe and lab-tested.

    Conclusion

As a moderate patient who typically enjoys 35-70 mg per dose, I found Stokes Micros to be more beneficial as an accentuation of my already existing high, magnifying and extending the effects. Long after my high should have worn off, these little guys kept me buzzing.

I’d recommend keeping these conveniently at hand, as their tiny size make Micros an excellent edible choice for times when openly medicating is impossible and discretion is necessary.

  8. Sprig THC-Infused Soda Is Perfect for a Light, Social Buzz

Sprig soda is a new low-dose, THC-infused citrus soda that will challenge the way you think about edibles and how you consume them.

While other edible manufacturers race to achieve ever higher cannabinoid numbers, often at the expense of taste and experience, Sprig embraces a more reasonable potency and touts a safe, social, and light-use message for new and experienced cannabis consumers.

What’s the Dose Amount in a Sprig THC-Infused Soda?

Beyond its appeal to both casual and connoisseur user demographics, Sprig is a tasty complement to any patient’s medication routine.

With just 15mg of THC per twelve ounce can, even the most amateur cannabis user can down the whole can in one go, and likely not get “overly-medicated,” which is the point of this product.

The company advocates that Sprig caters to cannabis-folk who prefer a light, uplifting and more social buzz when consuming cannabis.

Each batch is quality tested for potency, and because you’re drinking (not smoking) this cannabis-concoction, the uplifting effects hit you in 30 minutes or less.

    Packaging, Flavors & Ingredients

Sprig soda cans feature clean, sharp packaging that include a mirrored finish nice array of colors. It matches a look and feel of most *healthy* commercial sodas, which is evidence of this industry’s ongoing maturation.

At a recent conference in L.A., one of the hotel staff marveled at a four pack I was checking in with me. Thinking it was just a small batch of some new craft-soda brand, her eyes lit up when I disclosed the beverage was actually infused with THC, extracted from premium cannabis plants.

Along this vein of normalization, Sprig includes nutritional information and an ingredients list in their packaging, as any commercial beverage would. It’s made with cane sugar, and features a light citrus flavor which pairs well with most food (and smoked cannabis flower for that matter).

You can purchase Sprig either individually by the can, or as a convenient four pack perfect for dinner-parties and a girl’s night out.

Where to Buy Sprig THC-Infused Soda

Sprig began distribution of its cannabis-infused soda in June of this year, primarily to Southern California. Now, they’re found at many of the largest, most popular medical marijuana dispensaries in California.

You can find a store locator at their website, or just visit the Nugg and use the search bar to find delivery services near you that carry Sprig THC Soda!

    The Sprig Brand

According to founder Michael Lewis, Sprig is “a lab-made, light cannabis beverage is the ideal way to consume medical marijuana.  It’s healthier than smoking, and safer than current high dose, homemade edibles. Sprig was created by experienced scientists and beverage experts. As marijuana reform sweeps North America, people deserve a superior product they can trust.”

Sprig promotes only safe and responsible adult use by authorized medical marijuana consumers in California. The soda will be available for general recreational use, only if and when approved in California (expected in November 2016).

When recreational use is approved, Sprig believes it’ll be positioned as a leading choice for marijuana consumers. And not just because of their product, but because of their approach to communicating the value behind it.

“Cannabis legalization has made significant strides. We believe it’s up to sellers of cannabis products to make sure that they are used in a safe and positive way. Sprig is a product that is refreshing, delicious and delivers a low-dose effect that is social and energetic. We view this as a healthier alternative not only to smoking marijuana, but to drinking alcohol,” Lewis added.

Sprig THC-Infused soda is not to be confused with Sprig, the on-demand meal delivery service, which raised $45 million in funding this past April.

    Conclusion

Sprig THC-Infused soda is an exemplary edible choice if you’re a cannabis consumer who medicates casually, in public places, or simply enjoys a lower dose of THC.

Sprig is perfect for any moment you’d previously fill with a Coke or a beer. In my opinion, it could be the safer alternative to alcohol at your next party, cookout or tailgate.

And you don’t have to only serve them over ice. We had fun making “Sprig punches” by adding a scoop of rainbow sherbet to a frosty mug of Sprig, for a special cannabis twist to the traditional ice cream float.

  9. Edible Review: Kiva Confections Terra Bites Chocolate Covered Blueberries

KIVA Confections™ is a California based not-for-profit collective. They make only the highest quality medical edibles for patients, crafted from all natural ingredients and skillfully combined with cannabis. They lab-test every batch to ensure consistent THC potency. In this review, we’ll explore a recent addition to the Kiva line of products, their Blueberry-flavored Terra Bites.

What’s the Dose Like in Kiva Terra Bites?

Nugg has been huge fans of Kiva since day one, when they originally produced their tangerine chocolate bars. It comes as little surprise that we are just as pleased with their “Terra Bites” product line, which now features two distinct flavors, Blueberry & Espresso.

One of the biggest reasons we love Kiva Confections Terra Bites, & especially the milk & white chocolate fused with blueberry flavor, is because of their consistent and reliable production quality. Every tin hosts 24 round, less-than-bite-sized balls of explosive flavor, for a total packed-punch of 120mg of THC.

But the consistency isn’t just from tin to tin. I’d go so far as to claim that Kiva has nailed down their dosing to the point that each tiny chocolate ball does in fact include 5mg of THC, which provides an excellent reference point for new and seasoned edible-users alike.

Kiva uses a blend of indica and sativa strains in their edibles, which creates a hybrid, full-effect high to meet a range of patient needs.

As you might imagine, Kiva Terra Bites are perfect for patients who rely on low-dose THC to treat their symptoms and conditions, as each ball only contains 5mg of THC. But the bites still make for a great edible product for other medical and recreational users, as you can eat up to 24 bite-sized pieces from one can!

Also, and probably because I’m just a clandestine cannabis consumer myself, I’ve found Terra Bites particularly useful for on-the-go or in-public situations, like working at the office or while traveling to my next destination.

    Flavors & Ingredients

The next factor to be considered, of course, is the Kiva’s chocolate taste, as it’s the crucible of what makes a Kiva product, a Kiva. In fact, Kiva globally sources all its chocolate (and espresso beans) from Tanzania, and their dark chocolate is 54% cacao.

In not so many words, Kiva chocolate is decadent, delicious, and velvety smooth. It sits perfectly on the tongue and melts away not too slow, not too fast, but at the perfect rate for your taste-buds to absorb the flavor & detect a hint of cannabis

Now on to the Blueberry flavor itself, and how it’s achieved in the first place.

The making of Kiva Terra Bites is rather impressive. The company starts with dried blueberries, generously dusted in cocoa powder, to which a layer of white chocolate is added. Next, they’re again dusted with blueberry (and a dash of raspberry) powder before a final layer of polished milk-chocolate completes the reciple.

They’re deceptively simple in appearance, but after trying them for the first time, it’s hard not to notice the attention to detail that goes into each bite.

Kiva Terra Bite (Blueberry) Ingredients: Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Milk, Unsweetened Chocolate, Soya Lecithin, Pure Vanilla), Dried Blueberries (Blueberries, Sucrose, Sunflower Oil), White Chocolate (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Milk, Soya Lecithin, Pure Vanilla), Cannabis Extract, Polish (Water, Gum Arabic, Sucrose, Corn Syrup), Natural Flavors, Freeze Dried Blueberry Powder, Freeze Dried Raspberry Powder, Confectioners Glaze, Cocoa Powder, Citric Acid.

    The Kiva Confections Brand

Kiva Confections hosted the most impressive booth at the recent Cannabis World Business Expo in LA. Resplendent in richly-colored wood panelling and sporting the ambiance of an exclusive boutique shop, the booth attracted visitors in droves, including yours truly, to sample their world-class cannabis-inflused chocolate products.

Kiva Terra Bites have been around since 2013, when the company won the San Francisco Patients Choice Cup in the medical cannabis edibles category.

Kiva also recently introduced a new addition to their product line – Kiva Minis, which sports doses of 15 or 45mg of THC.

Where to Buy Kiva Terra Bites

Even though the company globally sources its ingredients, its cannabis indica & sativa strains come straight from California, and that’s where you’ll find most Kiva products being sold. They’re now available in most popular dispensaries.

If you’re interested in purchase Kiva Terra Bites from a California cannabis dispensary in your area, visit the Nugg website, where you can place orders for marijuana delivery online in seconds!

    Conclusion

From their informative packaging and trusted consistency, to the dynamic sweet and tart flavor of their products, Kiva provides top of the line medical cannabis edibles.
