You can't get a Nevada medical marijuana card unless you are a resident of Nevada and have a Nevada State ID. BUT, if you have a valid cannabis recommendation from another state, and an Out of State ID or Passport, you can use that recommendation to purchase medical cannabis at a Nevada dispensary and save the 10% retail tax (NRS 453A.364)
Some Nevada dispensaries may not recognize a doctor's recommendation alone for medical purchases (to get the 10% tax benefit). So if you only have a doctor's recommendation because you're visiting from a state which allows medical purchases with just a recommendation and driver's license, like California, you should check with the dispensary. If you have any trouble, mention section NRS 453A.364 to clear up any confusion on their end about saving the 10% retail tax. NRS 453A.364 clearly authorizes dispensaries to dispense medical cannabis with just a doctor's recommendation if that recommendation would allow the patient to buy cannabis in their home state as well, but some retailers are still unclear.
If you are still having trouble, please have the dispensary contact our Cannabis Concierge at https://getnugg.com/md/contact
*Note: If you live in a state that doesn't allow medical marijuana, or which requires a state-issued cannabis patient identification to purchase cannabis, presenting a recommendation alone will not allow you to purchase medical cannabis in Nevada under reciprocity. You are only considered a qualified visiting patient if you present documents sufficient to allow purchase in your home state of residency. In other words, a California recommendation alone will exempt you from the 10% retail tax in Nevada.

If you prefer edibles, the state measures total amount allowed by total concentration of THC. Recreational users can purchase edibles that contain a total concentration of up to 3,500mg of THC. It used to be. In 2017, the excise tax for medical marijuana was raised to 15% so that it matched the recreational excise tax rate. But since medical sales are exempt from the additional 10% retail excise tax, medical users still pay less than recreational, although their tax burden is now 13% higher than it used to be.
