Justices will still need to approve the ballot\u2019s wording before the measure can move forward, however, as reported by <a class=\" ga-link-trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.northescambia.com\/2015\/11\/medical-marijuana-initiative-wont-need-hearing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-gatrack-label=\"Within Article Link\">North Escambia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\" ga-link-trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedforcare.org\/petition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-gatrack-label=\"Within Article Link\">People United for Medical Marijuana<\/a> sponsored the bill seeking to authorize marijuana use by individuals suffering from any \u201cphysician certified debilitating medical condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<a class=\" ga-link-trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.floridasupremecourt.org\/pub_info\/summaries\/briefs\/15\/15-1796\/Filed_10-30-2015_Initial_Brief.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-gatrack-label=\"Within Article Link\">Use of Marijuana for Debilitating Medical Conditions<\/a>\u201d ballot summary currently reads:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Allows medical use of marijuana for individuals with debilitating medical conditions as determined by a licensed Florida physician. Allows caregivers to assist patients\u2019 medical use of marijuana. The Department of Health shall register and regulate centers that produce and distribute marijuana for medical purposes and shall issue identification cards to patients and caregivers. Applies only to Florida\u00a0law. Does not immunize violations of federal law or any non-medical use, possession or production of marijuana.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>People United for Medical Marijuana says it has collected nearly 350,000 valid signatures for a petition to get medical marijuana on the 2016 Florida ballot.
